Product description
Clinton is a variety used to produce deep red wine and table grapes. The northeastern United States and Brazil are the main producers of Clinton wine, although it is also grown in small quantities in Switzerland, Italy, France, and Austria. It is also used to add color to wine blends.
Perhaps Clinton's best feature is its resistance to disease and pests, as it is immune to the phylloxera mite that devastated vineyards throughout Europe.
The vine bears small, black berries that are quite sweet in taste. As a table grape, the fruit has a long shelf life and is therefore a popular table grape in Europe and the United States. In Italy, some producers also use Clinton grapes to make the brandy-like spirit grappa.
