Southern Blueberry Variety. Released in 2007 by North Carolina State University, New Hanover is a mid-season, low-temperature variety that ripens in large to very large clusters from early June to mid-June (in southeastern North Carolina). This blueberry matures to a size of 1.75-1.80 m. tall and 1.75 m. wide, with a spreading tendency. New Hanover is also self-fruitful (the size of the row increases with cross-pollination with other varieties).

One of the first blueberry plants you can buy to get an abundance of good-sized berries. Enjoying freshly picked fruit straight from the plant is a very satisfying gardening experience and now is your chance to do just that. 'New Hanover' produces delicious fruit with a particularly sweet wild blueberry flavor. Blueberries are a perfect garden plant and grow well in pots.
