Its fruit is large in size and spherical to heart-shaped. The bark is deep red. The flesh is red, firm, crisp, semi-seeded and sweet (slightly acidic). It ripens during the first ten days of June. As a tree, it is very lively, with upright growth, and quite productive. It slowly comes into full fruition. It is considered resistant to cold. It has little compatibility with mahalepio. It is amenable to maintenance and transport relatively sensitive to the tearing of the fruit by rain. It is considered one of the best varieties of cherry. Its cultivation began in the mountainous regions of Edessa, where it is believed to have originated.
