Prunus serrulata Kanzan.
The Japanese Kanzan cherry is the most popular variety of all double flowering cherries, thanks to its stunning pink flowers, good autumn color and beautiful form. It is a wonderful specimen that can be planted in containers, on walks and driveways and in hedgerows. Kanzan cherry can even be used as a bonsai tree.
Produces a stunning profusion of 2½" diameter deep pink double flowers from April to early May
It has autumnal yellow, orange and copper color
Ground preference
Acid, Alkaline, Clay, Drought, Loamy, Sandy, Well Drained, Wet
It is a fruitless variety.
Named after a mountain in Japan, the Kanzan (Kwanzan) cherry is native to China, Japan and Korea. The original name is Sekiyama.
