Product description
San Mango figs are a typical product of some municipalities of Avellino such as Castelfranci, Paternopoli, Caposele, Fontanarosa and, last but not least, San Mango sul Calore, from which they take their name.
The plants of this fig variety are resistant to low temperatures, they produce a fruit with a slightly flattened shape, which has a thin skin, yellow-orange in color when harvested, which turns red once it reaches normal ripeness. The San Mango fig has a very juicy pulp, dark bronze in color, sometimes tending to red, with many seeds and a characteristic, slightly sugary flavor. It ripens from late June to early July.
It is a rustic shrub resistant to low temperatures and also ornamental since in the winter it appears with bare branches but with hanging fruits.
