Product description
The Nanjing or Nanking cherry ( Prunus tomentosa ), is native to northern and western China, Japan, Korea, Tibet, Kashmir and the Himalayas.
It is a densely branched, deciduous shrub that usually reaches 2-3 meters in height and width. It produces a sea of white to pink flowers in early spring (April) which bees often visit. The flowers are followed by large masses of berries, up to 25 mm, which ripen in July. The fruit has a sweet and sour taste. 3 kg of berries can be collected from a fully grown bush.
The shrub is hardy and prefers sun or partial shade and well-drained soil.
They are self-fertile.
"Snovit" contrasts with the common red nanjing cherry, it is snow white with its extremely beautiful tasting berries.
