Nam Doc Mai (translated as the sweet nectar of the flower) is a Thai variety and the most famous "dessert" mango of Thailand. One of the most sought after mangoes in the world and the mango best used in Thailand's famous dish - mango sticky rice.

Mangoes are shaped similar to Ataulfo, with larger, elongated bodies and a prominent beak-shaped tip. They have an incredibly thin pit. They vary in size. They are initially a pale green color and ripen to a bright canary yellow, occasionally with a few light green streaks. Sometimes a tinge of red or pink will be evident from where the sun hits the shoulders of the fruit through the tree branches.

Nam Doc Mai are incredibly juicy with a colorless, deep yellow flesh that resembles cream. Their flavor is intense with mango and they have a strong tropical floral aroma. The sweetness of the taste is reminiscent of coconut cream and honey.

Some claim that this mango is the real King (Queen) of Fruits, while others claim that it is the Alphonso of India
