Product description

European Currants are the natural product resulting from the drying of the grapes of the Greek grape variety Black Currants from Corinth which has the scientific name Vitis vinifera L. Its history: from the 4th century BC to Greek area. The main characteristic of the variety is the very fine, non-core rails. This property classifies the Corinthian raisin as seedless and is an important advantage over other raisin varieties, as only 1-2 other varieties are observed with the same characteristic. Its excellent aroma and rich taste place it as the top of the raisins.

This product, like the dehydrated grapes of the homonymous variety, is a natural product, which preserves all the components of fresh grapes, such as sugars, vitamins, mineral salts, fiber, antioxidants and aromas. In general, the product has been appreciated as a perfect natural alternative food and sweetener with excellent taste and aromas. Its sugars, which are fructose (mainly) and glucose are simple sugars (monosaccharides) and are considered a valuable direct source of energy for the human body (they are the sugars in fruit and honey).

They are particularly rich in iron, potassium and magnesium. It also contains high percentages of calcium, manganese, zinc and other minerals and vitamins. It is very rich in fiber, contains antioxidants (flavonoids, anthocyanins, etc.) and is free of cholesterol (cholesterol free) and sodium. Currants are consumed directly as a snack or used as an ingredient in cooking, baking, confectionery, etc. maintaining all its nutritional properties.
