Product description
The Newhall variety is highly prized among Sicilian oranges because of the sweet taste of its yellow juice and its low acid level. The appearance of the Sicilian Navel orange is distinctive because of its typical twin fruit (called, in fact, a navel): a mutation caused the orange to develop a second fruit at its base, opposite the stem, embedded in the skin of the original orange. the slices are juicy and their sweetness is the result of a low acidity/sugar ratio.
Newhall oranges can be considered less acidic oranges compared to other varieties of group. Indeed, the percentage of acidity ranges from 1 to 1.5%. It is interesting to note how this blond-fleshed variety can stay attached to the plant longer compared to the ripening period, consequently increasing the concentration of sugar in the oranges.
