Rio Grande cherry 'Eugenia Aggregata or Eugenia involucrata' is an evergreen shrub native to Brazil that has small dark red to purple fruits with a sweet cherry flavor. Rio Grande cherries are easy to grow and require relatively little maintenance for healthy, productive plant growth.
The fruit ripens on the plant 3 weeks after flowering. It is red to deep purple in color and about 2.5 cm in diameter with a sweet taste very similar to the classic cherry. The fruit can also be used for jelly, jam or juice.
Tropical plant, not resistant to winter frosts, if placed in an unheated greenhouse it must be at least 5°C in winter.
