Mojo Berry (Dwarf Mulberry) bred by 90 year old Japanese breeder Mr. Hajime Matsunaga, took over 40 years to develop. The tree was grown as a dwarf from an original variety, which was about four meters in height. Matsunga has succeeded in breeding the tree to the point where the Mojo Berry (also known as 'Charlotte Russe') grows to no more than a meter and a half tall and a meter wide!!!!
Could this be the perfect tree for small gardens, including patios and decks? For sure. Its compact frame means you can have the pleasure of growing a full and lovely Mulberry in your garden without worrying about it becoming a nuisance due to its size.
Mojo Berry is so impressive that it caught the eyes of the judges at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2017, winning the prestigious 'Plant of the Year' award under its nickname 'Charlotte Russe'. Selected from a shortlist of 20 outstanding plants, this tree fought off stiff competition to win first prize. Chosen for its attractive appearance, compact size and incredible fruiting…
Usually, you have to wait about eight years for a mulberry tree to bear fruit. With Mojo Berry, a young plant will produce repeated bursts of fruit from June to September! Enjoy these juicy berries year after year as a nutritious, sweet snack or in your cooking as you would any other berry.
