Product description
Ice cream bean mountain. A large attractive tree with spreading branches and lovely white and yellow pon pon flowers. The short pods look like a tamarind pod. Surrounding the inedible black seeds is a thick white juicy pulp that tastes like vanilla ice cream. The tree has the added benefit of being nitrogen-fixing (nitrogen bacteria fix nitrogen) and is a good choice as a fast-growing shade tree. Over the past 20 years it has gained popularity in Australia as a nitrogen-fixing tree, while producing large plush pods filled with creamy sweet flesh.
