Dittany is a native, endemic plant of Crete, with many medicinal properties. We find it limited and in conditions of intensive cultivation, while it can be cultivated individually in the garden or in a pot. The maximum height and maximum diameter of the plant will rarely exceed forty centimeters. It has ovoid, leathery leaves, growing oppositely in pairs on the stem and cross-wise in relation to the sub- and super-textures, in color from light green to glaucous and mossy. It blooms from late spring and throughout summer and autumn. It forms impressive, ovoid or elongated inflorescences with purple bracts and pink flowers. Dittany grows in sunny planting locations and well-drained soils. It can be grown under completely dry conditions, although sparse watering will give better and longer flowering to our plant.
