Product description
Size - french lavender is an ornamental shrub, reaching a height of half a meter to 1 meter. Its width, starting from 1 meter, can reach up to 1.5 meters in extent. To reach its final size, it will take around 2 to 5 years, after which it does not grow significantly.
Foliage - Its lovely, dense foliage is made up of long, narrow, small leaves with serrated edges and a strongly grooved surface. Tufted, silver-green in color, it remains decorative throughout the year, scented with a light scent, characteristic of lavender.
Flowers - Her favorite flowers appear in mid to late summer. Supported on bare, long shoots, they create long narrow blue-purple bouquets of tiny, strongly scented flowers.
Position - Loves sunny positions with a west or south orientation and needs to be planted in places protected from frost and strong or hot wind.
Watering - It needs little to moderate watering, especially in the hot, summer months, but also in the early days until it is established in a garden.
Soil - Grows successfully in various types of soil, with different textures and varying acidity values, as long as they have good drainage.
Hardiness - Once established in a location it is very drought tolerant and at the same time withstands partial frost and low temperatures down to -5°C. It can still survive in shallow and dry, stony soils, while it doesn't seem to suffer from air pollution.
Maintenance/Care - Its care is quite easy. To maintain its shape and size, we can, if we wish, prune it low, as soon as it finishes blooming.
It is suitable for flower beds, borders, pots and planters, balconies, entrances, hedges and natural partitions, wall edges and path borders, small or large clumps, herb gardens, slopes and downhill areas, rock gardens, gravel gardens, dry gardens and Mediterranean style gardens , urban gardens and squares, country gardens and island style gardens
