Product description

Citrus paradisi. Red-fleshed Grapefruit Pompelmo plants imported from Italy in a large 6.5lt bag. Vaccinated in Carizzo.

The grapefruit is a citrus hybrid originating from Barbados. It is an accidental cross between the sweet orange (C. × sinensis) and the pomelo or shaddock (C. maxima), both of which were introduced from Asia in the 17th century. It has also been called a forbidden fruit. In the past it was referred to as pomelo, but this term is now used as the common name for Citrus maxima. Evergreen grapefruit trees usually reach a height of about 5-6 meters although they can reach 13-15 meters. The leaves are up to 15 cm long, thin, glossy and dark green. They produce 5cm white four-petalled flowers
