Arcobal or Rainbow orange is a hybrid obtained by crossing the cold-resistant Meyer lemon and a sanguine orange. It is a lively and prickly plant. It blooms profusely and repeats several times like Meyer Lemon. Fairly thick crown with short spines, practically absent on peripheral branches. The leaves are medium, oval, very bright green in color with a characteristic wave on the upper part of the blade, with a leathery appearance with an entire margin. The skin of the fruit has ridges ranging from orange to deep red and the ripe flesh is a very attractive dark red. The taste of the fruit is somewhat reminiscent of an orange but not too strong. The fruits are medium-sized, spherical in shape and have the special characteristic of having transverse stripes of bright red color on the skin, alternating with areas of orange color, with a high aesthetic effect. The peel is rich in essential oils with a pleasant aroma. The fruits are used for the production of juices, ice creams, sorbets, liqueurs and for decorative purposes.

COLD TOLERANCE In areas where temperatures drop below freezing for a few days, covering the plant with non-woven fabric may be sufficient. When temperatures drop below freezing for long periods of time, the plant should be protected in a cold greenhouse, under a porch or near a wall protected from the wind with non-woven fabric. In particularly cold regions where outside temperatures can reach and exceed -8 °C for long periods of time, a heated greenhouse is needed.
