Red variety very common. It is cultivated in Greece in the regions of Peloponnese, Macedonia, Thrace, Thessaly and Crete. It is a lively, fertile and quite productive variety. It likes deep, shale and acidic soils. It is shaped into a Royat cup and linear cord and accepts short pruning at two eyes or Gyot virgin at five to six eyes. It has good affinity for most used substrates except 110R, due to chlorination problems. It is a variety sensitive to spring frosts, downy mildew and botrytis.
It ripens in the first fortnight of September and gives wines of high quality, medium to high acidity with intense color and rich aromas.
