Product description

Delight your eyes, your heart and your health with this garden feature: The Malay apple (Syzygium malaccense, Malaysian rose, mountain apple, water apple). It is an old world tropical fruit tree, with a native range that remains uncertain (suspected origin in Malaysia). However,
Its well-known status as a naturalized fruit tree in tropical South America is a testament to its hardy growing habits. The Malaysian apple can grow up to 60 feet in height in the wild, but can remain low and dense when in cultivation. The Malaysian apple tree requires warm and humid growing conditions for best results.
It makes an exciting addition to any tropical tree collection, with new growth appearing as a crimson-red colour. Malaysian apple trees seem to bloom in secret, with flowers covered by foliage and largely invisible until they are on the ground. Malay fruit is popular in areas where the tree has become naturalized. The fruits will ripen 60 days after flowering
, and should be selected manually for best results. Although some people report a fairly mild flavor from the fruit, the waxy, pink skin and white, crisp flesh make it a sweet temptation.
