Rollinia deliciosa (family Annonaceae), also known as Biriba, is a delicious and large yellow spiny fruit native to the Amazon. This fruit tree can grow tall enough to reach 6-8m and can be planted in full sunlight or semi-shaded areas. It requires a moderate amount of water on a regular basis and thrives in USDA Zones 9-11 (southern Greece). In a cold area it can be grown in a pot.

The Biriba tree bears fruit three to four years after planting. An average tree can produce between 100 and 200 fruits.

Rollinia deliciosa , as the name suggests, is incredibly delicious. Its flavor is often likened to lemon meringue pie, a description that is accurate but does not do this fruit justice. It is very sweet and creamy and has a refreshing taste like lemon, but also contains soft tropical notes like banana, pineapple and coconut.

It is very popular in its native Brazil, as well as throughout tropical South America, southern Mexico, and even Florida and Hawaii.

Brazilians, who call the fruit biriba, make a wine from its fermented juice as well as an extremely creamy drink by combining it with milk. There are also recipes for sauces, flans, ice creams and soufflés based on the roll.

The seeds were ground and used as a remedy for digestive problems.
