Feizoa Unique is a fully self-fertile variety.

Feijoa sellowiana 'Unique' produces medium-sized, light green fruit with a juicy flavor. It is a compact bush and the fruit ripens in mid-Spring. In addition, it features beautiful red flowers that bloom from late fall to mid-winter. It is suitable for coastal and windy environments and can be used to create attractive hedges. Unlike some other feijoa varieties, it is self-fertile and does not need a pollinator to produce fruit. Feijoa sellowiana is evergreen and native to the highlands of southern Brazil, eastern Paraguay, Uruguay, northern Argentina and Colombia. Feijoa sellowiana 'Unique' was developed by Dennis Barton in New Zealand. Dennis encountered Feijoa sellowiana 'Unique' as a seedling in an orchard in Tauranga. He propagated Feijoa sellowiana 'Unique', before releasing it in 1982 under code (PVR 165) on a commercial scale.
